Washington Square Park: The Heart of Greenwich Village

Washington Square Park is the locally-beloved heart of Greenwich Village spanning 9.75 acres at the base of Fifth Avenue, bordered by Waverly Place, University Place, West 4th Street, and MacDougal Street. One of the best known (and recognized due to the giant arch structure) parks in lower Manhattan, it is considered an NYC landmark as well as a meeting place and center for cultural activity. Watch students congregate around the fountain, follow a parade as they pass by, sunbathe on the lawn, play a game of chess, take your pooch for a run, or let the kids play on the monkey bars for a relaxing day at the park.
